چکیده

Answer: I am glad that the article has interested you and I appreciate your kind and helpful comments. I am going to answer to your comments point by point. The kit (Euro immune, Germany) was used for tTG antibody estimation in our study. Units have been RU/mL but in paper print of laboratory report had been written IU/ml by mistake. Units are usually referred to as reference units (RU). When the reference material has been tested successfully in international, multi-center, collaborative studies it will be designated a WHO international standard, the units will then be International units (IU). There is no need for conversion factor.

Correlation Between Cut-off Level of Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody and Marsh Classification

BACKGROUND Duodenal biopsy is required for diagnosis of celiac disease in adults, although some studies have suggested adequate accuracy of serology alone. OBJECTIVE We aimed to assess the correlation between anti-tissue transglutaminase (tTG) titer and pathological findings and to define the specific level of tTG for predicting celiac disease in adults without the need for biopsy sampling. M...

Anti-Endomysial and Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase Serological Test Compared with Small Bowel Biopsy in the Diagnosis of Celiac Disease

Abstract Background and Objective: Celiac is an autoimmune disease that is characterized by an immune-system-related damage in the intestinal tissue after consumption of gluten. There is not any general agreement for gold standard. The Purpose of this study was the evaluation of specificity and sensitivity of anti-endomysial (EMA) and anti-tissue transglutaminase (TTG) serological test compa...

Correlation of Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody with Duodenal Histologic Marsh Grading

BACKGROUND Recent guidelines have proposed that there is a correlation between tissue transglutaminase (tTG) antibody titers and degrees of duodenal biopsy, and that duodenal biopsy can be omitted in some patients with high levels of tTG antibody. Using data of registered patients in a gastrointestinal clinic we aimed to assess the correlation between tissue transglutaminase antibody with duode...

The Diagnostic Value of Serum IgG-Antigliadin, IgA Anti-endomysial and IgA Anti-tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies for Pediatric Celiac Disease

Background and Objective: Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder, characterized by inflammation, villous atrophy, and crypt hyperplasia of the small bowel mucosa. In this study we considered and compared sensitivity and specificity of serological tests in patients with celiac disease. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study we prospectively recruited children with suspected c...

Is the Diagnosis of Celiac Disease Possible Without Intestinal Biopsy?

BACKGROUND Coeliac disease is defined as a state of immune-mediated hyper-responsiveness to dietary gluten from wheat, barley, or rye in genetically predisposed individuals that results in tissue damage. The diagnosis is made by microscopic examination of a small intestinal biopsy, although serological testing for antibodies against tissue transglutaminase and deamidated gliadin peptide can be ...
